WHAT: Organized Roots, LLC is a domestic human rights consulting firm invested in “Strengthening Solutions and Sustainability for Social Justice”. We work with Networks & Coalitions, Nonprofit Organizations, Foundations, Schools and School Systems and businesses with a focus on Corporate Social Responsibility. Informed by the voices and strategies of the grassroots, our work is guided by the Reproductive Justice framework which centers the voices and solutions of those who are most impacted by systems and institutions of oppression. Organized Roots, LLC is a firm of grassroots leaders who engage, speak out and participate fully in determining the policies and decisions that affect our lives and communities.
WHY: In the United States, our society is pushing for a domestic human rights agenda. There is an acknowledgement and efforts being made by organizations like Human Rights Watch to address the “mixed record the United States has in promoting and disregarding human rights abroad and at home.” Our success in addressing these issues is rooted in the principle set forth in the UN Declaration on Human Rights Defenders that “everyone has the right, individually and in association with others, to promote and to strive for the protection and realization of human rights and fundamental freedoms at the national and international levels,” human rights defenders are individuals and groups that non-violently promote and protect universally recognized human rights and fundamental freedoms.
HOW: Organized Roots, LLC believes that we must be intentional about what we say and do in the pursuit of human rights. For us this means creating ideas for social change with openness, honesty and transparency; with reflection, discussion and critical debate; with bottom-up structures of direct democratic procedure; and with the ability to adapt to new situations.

Organized Roots LLC Founder and Principal, Jasmine Burnett has held leadership roles in New York City and nationally working at the intersections of race, gender, class, sexuality, health and immigration and has worked with a number nonprofit organizations for over a decade. She combines her passion for infrastructure and strategy and her relationships with grassroots leaders and partners, to activate the infusion of creative ideas and implementation of strategies within nonprofit and philanthropic systems. Jasmine believes there is profound joy, purpose, and necessity in bringing people and resources together to act decisively in the pursuit of human rights. Her commitment to the visibility and power of women of color from a standpoint of strength and dignity, led her to establish Organized Roots.
